High-Performance Canning Lines by Hilden
Canning lines from Hilden are engineered with superior technology and are capable of handling a wide range of products—carbonated beverages, energy drinks, still drinks, and various other liquid products. A complete canning line typically includes de-palletizers or turntables, fillers, seamers, warmers, coding systems, shrink packers, and palletizers.
Automated Can Handling & De-Palletizing
Cans received on pallets are unwrapped and automatically conveyed to the de-palletizing station. Here, an automated sweeping arm transfers each layer onto a conveyor, where the cans are arranged into a single file. A vacuum arm lifts interlayer cardboard sheets and neatly stacks them in a magazine for recycling.
In high-level de-palletizers, as each layer is removed, the remaining stack rises by one can height. For slower lines, cans may also be manually placed on a turntable and smoothly transferred to the conveyor leading to the rinser.
Precision Rinsing System
In the rinser, cans are guided by a spiral track for inversion using gravity. They undergo a three-stage cleaning process:
- Recirculated water jet rinse
- Fresh water jet rinse
- Sterile air blow to remove residual droplets
The cans are then re-inverted and conveyed to the filler.
Accurate & Efficient Filling
In high-speed fillers, cans in a single line are spaced using a feed worm, then transferred through the star wheel into the filling module. Depending on the product type, an appropriate filling valve is used.
For lower-capacity systems, cans enter the filler directly through the infeed star wheel. Once positioned on the filling platform, a positive-lift centering device secures and seals the can during the filling operation.
Reliable Seaming Process
After filling, cans move to the seamer, which is mechanically synchronized with the filler through a precision gear train.
Lids stored in the chute are separated and placed onto the cans in perfect synchronization. A no-can, no-lid pneumatic safety system prevents lid wastage.
Each can is lifted and stabilized by a top-load roller before the primary and secondary rollers engage, ensuring perfect lid formation and a secure, leak-proof seal.
